DeKalb County School District is seeking a GA-licensed School Nurse (RN-LPN) at Cedar Grove Middle School for the school year. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services, normal and abnormal child development, and educational principles relevant to students with various intellectual and learning disabilities and special needs.
The candidate should be caring, able to communicate effectively with children and adults, and be flexible, organized, dependable, and a team player.

Title: Nurse, School (RN & LPN)
Provide essential healthcare services to students, including direct care, emergency assistance, medication administration, and health education, to foster a climate of health and well-being within the school setting. Work independently with minimal supervision, applying intermediate-level knowledge to ensure student safety and academic readiness, while also supporting staff in promoting a healthy school environment.

- Provide direct care to students, including administering medications, giving intramuscular injections, performing respiratory assessments, and assisting with emergency needs.
- Monitor and assess student health on a regular basis to determine who can remain in school and who should be excluded due to illness.
- Maintain accurate health records.
- Conduct regular health screenings (e.g., vision and hearing tests); identify issues and communicate with parents/guardians, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies as necessary.
- Attend 504 Plan and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to support students with special healthcare needs; advise on modifications of the education program to meet individual health needs.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, healthcare providers, and community resources to promote student health and a safe school environment.
- Serve as a resource for health-related issues, providing guidance and support.
- Provide health education to students, staff, parents, and guardians on topics such as hand hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, and preventive practices.
- Perform mandatory reporting duties to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Identify problems and resolve moderately complex healthcare-related issues.
- Make minor modifications to processes to enhance departmental performance as appropriate.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Grade 117 - Licensed Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training required.
- Grade 122 - Registered Nurse or equivalent education/training required.
- Minimum one (1) year of registered nurse or practical nursing or closely related experience is required. Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
