- Completion of an accredited licensed practical nursing program.
- Current, unencumbered license in the state of practice.
- At least one year of experience within the last three years.
- Background screen as required by state or client contract.
- Drug screening as required by contract.
- Some states or clients may require an employment physical.
- Work sites vary.
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
- Must be able to read and operate medical equipment.
- May be required to assist with moving and transporting patients.
- Perform nursing acts under the delegation of a registered nurse, physician, or mid‑level provider.
- Administer nursing procedures such as sterile dressings, soaks, compresses, enemas, tube feeding, oxygen therapy, range‑of‑motion therapy, catheterization, diabetic care, and pre‑ and post‑operative care.
- Set up prescribed medications according to patient care plans.
- Administer medications orally, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously and monitor effects.
- Assist in rehabilitation programming and activities for residents, including social skill development, daily living skills, reality orientation, and recreational skills.
- Document treatments, record and monitor patients’ health, transport patients to procedures, and maintain confidentiality per HIPAA.
- If IV‑certified, perform limited IV tasks as permitted.
- Provide patient care in a non‑judgmental, culturally sensitive manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
