Job Description

Salary Range: $23.26 - $30.36, Salary Grade: 15, FLSA:
Nonexempt

Essential Functions
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements educational and recreation programs and activities for visitors; identifies topics and activities that promote conservation, protection, and responsible use of the preserve; schedules events and maintains calendar for facilities; prepares long and short-term goals for educational and recreational programs and develops a written plan of action; evaluates and revises programs as necessary; leads programs and serves as a guide for visitors;

    and coordinates the volunteer program.
  • Provides customer service and security for public and preserve; greets and provides information to visitors; directs visitors to specific areas; patrols site; provides routine first aid and emergency assistance to visitors as needed; records, reports, and issues tickets for violations; and requests assistance from public safety agencies as required.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of a management plan for preserve; identifies park resources and assets; inventories plant species and wildlife in the preserve; protects endangered species through preserve management and education; researches and applies for grants and additional funding; and identifies work projects and writes orders for complex tasks.
  • Develops and distributes educational and public relations materials such as flyers, brochures and program calendars.
  • Provides routine maintenance and upkeep of park facilities; performs janitorial tasks to maintain cleanliness and remove trash; and performs janitorial, groundskeeping and landscaping tasks to maintain the park and facilities, to include removal of trees and debris, emptying trash cans, clearing trails, and planting.
  • Performs various clerical and administrative tasks in support of the park office and operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Education, Resource Management, Forestry, or other related field required.
  • Two years of experience working in parks, resource management, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
