Role OverviewAs a Store Protection Specialist
, you will provide a visible presence at store entrances and exits, mitigate theft and fraud, and maintain a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. You will greet customers with a “command” presence, monitor the Code 50 package inspection policy, walk the sales floor to identify and address potential theft indicators, and partner with store leadership to ensure compliance with loss prevention directives.
Functions
- Maintain a safe and secure environment: practice safe behaviors and assist Store Leadership in keeping associates and customers safe.
- Provide a visible “command” presence, including eye contact greetings at entrances/exits and on the sales floor, while wearing a company‑issued vest/required black attire.
- Remove clutter and keep egress clear to emergency exits.
- Deliver excellent customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions courteously.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and demonstrate courtesy and professionalism.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including conference calls and scheduled district meetings; recognize associates through company programs.
- Support loss prevention initiatives with additional duties as assigned.
- Monitor entrances/exits and the sales floor for suspicious behavior.
- Gather theft indicators and use internal or external intelligence to influence shortage trends.
- Communicate findings to Store Leadership and Loss Prevention Leadership.
- Adhere to company policy for external theft response and execute best practices efficiently.
- Increase store awareness of effective processes to reduce operational shortage.
- Train and educate associates on shortage reduction initiatives.
- Observe and validate checkout procedures for customers and associates.

- High school education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
- One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
- One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
- Active security guard license preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proven conflict resolution capability.
- Must comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol testing.
- Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
- Spend up to 100 % of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Raise or lower objects more than 25 lb. from one level to another.
- Regularly bend, stoop, or crouch; frequency and duration vary by daily business needs.
- Additional assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
