Armed Security Officer

As an Armed Security Guard
, you willbe responsible for protecting people, property, and assets whilemaintaininga visible armed security presence within a government, corporate, retail, or commercial environment. This role requires strict adherence to post orders, use-of-force policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

• 3–5 years of prior armed security experience required
• Prior armed security experience is mandatory
• Must successfully complete and pass a polygraph examination

Armed officers are expected to exercise sound judgment,maintain situational awareness, and respond appropriately to security threats, emergencies, and criminal activity. Responsibilities include conducting armed patrols, monitoringsurveillanceand alarm systems, controlling access points, deterring criminal behavior, and preparing detailed incident reports.

In addition to security enforcement, this role supports SSC’s G.E.T. Principles — Greet, Engage, and Thank, ensuring professionalism and positive engagement with customers, visitors, and associates whilemaintainingauthority and control.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct armed security patrols on foot or by vehicle, as assigned

Maintain lawful possession and safe handling of assigned firearm at all times

Observe, deter, and respond to criminal activity, threats, or suspicious behavior

Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems

Control access and egress points and verify authorized entry

Identify and address safety hazards or irregular conditions

Respond to emergencies and critical incidents in accordance withuse-of-force policy

Notify and coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders as required

Prepare accurate, detailed written reports on incidents, accidents, and suspicious activity

Preserve evidence andmaintainscene integrity when necessary

Maintain a clean, professional, and command-presence post area

Customer Service & Engagement (G.E.T. Principles)

Greet customers, guests, tenants, and associates in a professional, respectful manner

Engage proactively whilemaintainingsituational awareness and officer safety

Thank individuals for their cooperation and patronage when appropriate

Provide directions and general site information without compromising security

De-escalate situations verbally when possible and appropriate

Address concerns or complaints professionally and escalat to management when required

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle
• Pass and possess a State Licensed Armed Security Guard Card / License if required by your State / City / Locality

Experience Required Verifiable work history if previously employed and must possess one or more of the following:

• Graduate of an accredited high school or a Certificate of Completion of General Education Development requirements; and meet one of the following experience / education requirements:
• Experience of 1 year as a security officer strongly preferred

• Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
• Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
• Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
• Must be warm, engaging, charismatic; and possess a natural ability to develop rapport with others in an authentic and sincere manner
• Must practice good judgment; high level of integrity
• Must be proactive; take initiative with minimal supervision
• Must be resourceful; think critically and finds solutions even without the obvious resources
• Must be able to navigate challenging situations while remaining positive
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
• Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
