** This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position located onsite in Decatur, Illinois. Qualified candidates who meet the requirements may be eligible for relocation assistance.

* Description:

** We are seeking an experienced Hardware Lead to spearhead the implementation and modernization of process control systems for industrial automation projects. The successful candidate will lead hardware-related aspects of projects involving systems such as Emerson Delta

V and Rockwell Plant

PAx, ensuring robust, efficient, and innovative solutions that meet ADM specifications and industry standards. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, project management experience and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge automation solutions.
The ADM Modernization Program [Program Aurora] is an ADM Operations Initiative to modernize our strategic facilities through Automation and Optimization. Utilizing technology and ADM expertise, we will reduce unplanned downtime, support safety initiatives, increase OEE and standardize our processes across our business units. The Program is an enabler for ADM's Digital Transformation.

** Key Responsibilities
*** System Design and Specification:
Lead the governance and oversight of 3rd party Automation Vendor design. Provides technical requirements for hardware design, construction, and installation.
* Project Leadership:
Oversee hardware engineering tasks, including system architecture, integration, and commissioning for modernization projects.
* Modernization of Legacy Systems:
Plan and execute upgrades for legacy control systems (e.g., Emerson Delta

V, Rockwell Plant

PAx) to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.

* Collaboration:

Work closely with software engineers, control system engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
* Technical Documentation:
Develop and maintain detailed hardware specifications, wiring diagrams, and installation guidelines. Provides input for cross-functional reviews including P&IDs.
* Testing and Commissioning:
Lead hardware testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities to ensure systems meet operational requirements. Coordinates FAT/OTS testing and deliverables.
* Compliance and Standards:
Ensure all hardware designs comply with industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, NEC) and client-specific requirements.
* Vendor Management:
Coordinate with vendors for procurement of hardware components and ensure timely delivery within budget constraints.
* Mentorship:
Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.

Skills and Qualifications
**
* Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PE, PMP) are a plus. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.

* Experience:

+ 7+ years of experience in industrial automation, with at least 3 years in project execution.  + Proven expertise in designing and implementing process control systems. Emerson Delta

V and Rockwell Plant

PAx preferred.  +

Experience with modernization projects, including upgrading legacy systems to modern platforms.
* Technical

Skills:

+ Proficiency in hardware design for PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.  + Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols  + Ensures adherence to ADM standards and best practices for equipment specifications and process design & layout  + Expertise in specifying and configuring I/O modules, controllers, and networking hardware  + Familiarity with reading and understanding or creating wiring diagrams and schematics.  + Understanding of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems (e.g., IEC 62443).  

+ Familiarity with various industrial instrumentation platforms and experience with designing and troubleshooting instrumentation solutions.
