Job Description

CAD Operator I or II

ADM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level CAD Operator to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience to grow their skills and build a career in CAD design and drafting.

The Entry-Level CAD Operator will assist in creating and modifying detailed 2D and 3D drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, architects, and other team members to produce accurate and high-quality design documents.

Location:

Decatur, IL (the position could also be based out of Cedar Rapids, IA)

Education:
  • Associates degree
  • Diploma from recognized technical school in Microstation, AutoCAD, or equivalent work experience
Experience:
  • The position could be filled as a level 1 or 2 within the organization.
  • CAD Operator 1 ideally has 1 to 2 years’ experience in AutoCAD or Microstation.
  • CAD Operator 2 ideally has 3 to 5 years’ experience in AutoCAD or Microstation.
Job Duties:
  • Projects are assigned by the CAD Department Manager and carried out under the direction of the Project Manager, Design Professional in Responsible Charge (DPIRC), and Project Engineer.
  • CAD Department Manager and Lead CAD personnel will provide mentorship and direction.
  • Develop CAD deliverables per requirements and specifications, ensuring they are complete and accurate. Deliverables include, but are not limited to: 2D drawings, 3D models, PID & PFDs.
  • Read and interpret design drawings; review shop drawings when requested.
  • Assist with field surveying, information gathering, and laser scanning.
  • Assist with development of department CAD standards and templates.
  • Manage project files accurately and timely, including CAD files, vendor files, emails, and disseminate project information.
Required Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent CAD applications.
  • Proficient in 2D drafting and 3D modeling techniques.
  • Basic understanding of engineering, design, and architectural practices.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to project teams and CAD Manager to improve team performance.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, seeking better solutions for CAD drafting and modeling challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous internship, apprenticeship, or related work experience.

ADM requires successful completion of a background check.

Base pay ranges from $39,200 to $72,800, depending on experience and location. Overtime pay applies for qualifying hours.

Employees are in an "at-will" position with potential pay modifications at the company's discretion.
