Overview

Performs radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level for all age groups.

Schedule

Full Time, Day Shift

10 hour shifts

Weekend and Weeknight Call by Rotation

$20,000 Sign-on Bonus!

Qualifications

Education

Must be a graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology; must achieve ARRT registration and Illinois State License, and maintain educational requirements for licensure and registration.

Must maintain updated licensure and registration.

Completion of initial and/or annual competencies as specified by the Department Manager to fulfill accrediting body requirements.

Environmental Factors

Occasional exposure to moderate environmental variations, above-normal noise levels, and/or unpleasant substances; daily exposure to hazardous or potentially injurious elements such as radiation and blood/body fluids.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Moderate to heavy physical exertion, standing 80% of the time; frequent bending and reaching (up to 80 inches from the floor); occasional lifting and carrying loads of 5 to 75 pounds.

Must be able to assist an average-sized person (150 pounds) to and from the X-ray table; occasionally support an average person for approximately two minutes.

Mental Demands

Ability to work under stress and adapt to changing conditions; adhere to strict confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Job Duties

  • Performs routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures according to department policies and procedures.
  • Updates patient examination history files.
  • Enters data into computer systems.
  • Consults with supervisors, Radiologists, or physicians as necessary to provide appropriate patient care.
  • Understands all interventional procedures and assists physicians in a variety of exams.
  • Handles insertion and removal of PICC lines and micro-puncture access.
  • Follows appropriate safety precautions.
  • Performs visual preventative safety inspections.
  • Reports dangerous department or equipment conditions appropriately.
  • Assists M.D. with AAA Repair and Carotid Stent Device Management.
  • Works with interventional radiologists to develop protocols and perform procedures for line placement and pain management.
  • Maintains IDNS license and ARRT registration; stays current on trends in diagnostic radiology; participates in continuing education.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area; ensures appropriate supply levels.
  • Treats patients professionally and respectfully.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency.
  • Explains procedures to patients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
