Join to apply for the Part Time Unit Secretary role at Memorial Health.

Hours:

6:45am - 7:15pm

Weekends Rotation as specified by department is included.

Serves as the primary communication and information “hub” for the unit, answering telephones and patient call lights and ensuring that appropriate parties receive information in an expeditious manner. Enters patient orders into the electronic medical record in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy. Performs complex secretarial and receptionist functions including ordering and stocking needed supplies and equipment, filing, copying, and printing patient data reports for the department.

Patient care tasks may be performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Education & Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED required, associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years secretarial or comparable clerical experience required.
  • Medical Office Assistant certificate or related college coursework may be considered in lieu of clerical experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work with diverse disciplines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the communication hub for the unit, answering phones, and directing inquiries.
  • Accurately processing patient orders and maintaining medical records.
  • Managing supplies, equipment, and unit operations efficiently.
  • Providing basic patient care tasks under supervision.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities and supporting safety standards.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The position is entry-level, part-time, within the healthcare administrative field, with a focus on hospital and health care environments.
