The Occupational Therapy Assistant works with the Licensed Occupational Therapist in providing rehabilitation services to patients of all ages, to attain maximum patient outcomes. This position requires a two‑year approved schooling for Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, NBCOT, licensed or license pending in the State of Illinois and without previous disciplinary action in Illinois or another state.

Opportunities to specialize in different areas:
Lymphedema alongside a LANA‑certified clinician, or in Hand Therapy with 2 Certified Hand Therapists on‑site.

Education and/or Other Requirements:
Two years’ approved schooling for Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, NBCOT. Licensed or license pending in the State of Illinois and without previous disciplinary action in Illinois or another state. Current CPR card.

Responsibilities

Environmental Factors:
This position is performed within an environment of occasional exposure to environmental variations, above‑normal noise‑level, and/or unpleasant substances and limited exposure to hazardous or potentially injurious elements or conditions.

  • Frequently required to stand, bend, and reach.
  • Frequently required to lift, push, and pull weight of at least 5 to 50 pounds.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on goals and frames of reference as determined by the therapist. Communicate and collaborate routinely with the evaluating therapist.
  • Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, follow the treatment program for patients of all ages.
  • Maintain appointment schedules; instruct patients and families in home programs; communicate and collaborate with the evaluating therapist and others providing service; implement treatment plan of care based on patient‑specific goals; advance treatment plan of care in collaboration with the evaluating Occupational Therapist.
  • Meet departmental standards for documentation and insurance guidelines in patient records. Daily notes; communicate with doctors; outcome measures.
  • Endeavor to attain patient goals; progress patient to appropriate level of independence.
