Production Coordinator – Decatur, IL

The Production Coordinator supports safe, efficient, and sustainable operation within the Isolate department of the Decatur East Plant. The role focuses on improving process performance using tools from the ADM Performance Excellence process.

Responsibilities
  • Assist plant personnel (operators, technicians, supervisors) with strategies to collect, analyze, and interpret data to develop a loss landscape for prioritizing resources and focus.
  • Partner with department leadership to determine short-, medium-, and long-term plans to mitigate and eliminate losses in all aspects of the process.
  • Continuously apply Performance Excellence tools to contribute to the plant’s continuous improvement and readiness.
  • Assist with development and execution of plans to raise colleague proficiency to improve process operation and results.
  • Support efforts to implement technology and practices that reduce contamination, increase efficiency and yield, and improve utilization of idle equipment.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Take over hourly colleague scheduling.
  • Provide feedback to colleagues regarding effective operations and performance.
  • Understand their role in food safety and quality systems; actively engage in plant and food safety efforts and ensure conformance to good manufacturing practices.
  • Support the department as one of three backup operations champions.
  • Audit the process daily for accountability with PE activities and discuss findings with operators and supervisors.
  • Fill in as needed for department coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Rotate departments as needed to build well-rounded knowledge of the facility.
Qualifications
  • Three or more years of demonstrable supervisory experience in an industrial production facility; food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading production teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work across functions.
  • Creative/analytical problem solving skills and ability to resolve complex problems creatively.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Working Conditions
  • Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions (hot and cold temperatures, dusty environments) and handle chemicals safely.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Ability to move/transport up to 55 pounds.
  • Sit and stand for long periods.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Bending and kneeling.
  • Be respirator qualified.
