Welder - Structural

This position requires joining steel components or metal plates using blueprints, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions with heat or electric arc welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned.

• Use Gas‑Metal Arc, Flux‑Cored Arc, Gas‑Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
• Join pipes to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and control valves to release mixture.
• Control flame temperature, size, and color by adjusting gas and air flow.
• Preheat work pieces for welding or bending using a torch.
• Fill holes or correct defects in lead pieces and shape metal work pieces.
• Manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal, clean or degrease weld joints or work area with wire brush, portable grinder or chemical bath.
• Remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder or power chipper.
• Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to assemble textures.
• Choose weld position based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.
• Other duties as assigned.

• No minimum education requirements.
• 2‑4 years of journeyman‑level welding experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; this employer does not sponsor visas.
