Electrical Technician - Decatur, IL
Electrical Technician will support the power, motor control, and process control systems at ADM’s Decatur Corn Plant. The role will perform preventive and planned maintenance and address equipment repair activities as required. All duties will follow plant safety guidelines and electrical safety standards.
Job SummaryThis position is a full‑time, hourly role with any shift, overtime, and weekend availability. The technician will troubleshoot, diagnose, propose, and implement repair solutions for electrical power and control equipment and process control components. The technician will communicate job status using the maintenance management software, verbal, and written communications and will follow all plant safety and operating guidelines and electrical safety and maintenance practices.
EssentialJob Functions
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, propose, and implement repair solutions for electrical power and control equipment and process control components.
- Apply electrical work practices and guidelines including NEC and IEEE standards.
- Use the CMMS to plan and record maintenance activities on plant assets.
- Participate in food safety efforts and maintain compliance with good manufacturing practices.
- Utilize the Performance Excellence process.
- Commitment to ADM’s zero‑injury culture and adherence to safety procedures.
- Basic AC/DC circuit theory knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of electrical instruments, current transmitters, VFDs, and power meters.
- Basic knowledge of electrical safety devices (breakers, fuses, etc.).
- Safe work behavior and desire to follow and improve safety policies.
- 2‑4 years electrical experience or equivalent, with conduit, troubleshooting, blueprints, and PLC knowledge a plus.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to improve technical skills through training.
- Willingness to work shifts and weekends as needed.
- Extensive CMMS experience (Maximo).
- Detailed understanding of food manufacturing plant operation and maintenance.
- New colleagues will receive on‑the‑job training and certifications as per safety, food safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training.
- Participate in company planner operations training and equipment training (JLP, forklift, non‑DOT truck, reach lift, lock out/tag out, etc.).
- Dust, chemicals/irritants (solvents, cleaners).
- Inside areas: temperatures up to or exceeding 100°F in spring/summer and below freezing in fall/winter.
- Outside areas: temperatures up to or exceeding 100°F with high humidity in spring/summer and freezing or below with inclement weather in fall/winter.
- Noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels, requiring hearing protection.
- Lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds on occasion; 30 pounds regularly.
- Traverse up to two (2) miles during the work day.
- Move by stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently; prolonged sitting or standing may occur.
- Operate equipment at varying heights; ladder, scaffolding, or heights work may be required.
- Full range of physical motion for manual and electrically powered tools.
$27.86/hr Training Grade 1
