Overview

• USD $30.23/Hr. – USD $48.37/Hr. (range varies by experience and department)
• $Up to 20,000 Sign on Bonus***

Manages, coordinates and performs nursing care with compassion for an assigned group of patients and their families and incorporates preventative measures. NURSING GOAL: educate and restore a patient to an optimal level of wellness as defined by the patient and their family, incorporating preventative measures.

Essential Functions and Job Duties

• CLINICAL JUDGEMENT – Clinical reasoning, decision-making, critical thinking, and nursing skills through the nursing process.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess the full scope of patient needs and collaborates with the care team as needed.
• CARING PRACTICES – Create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients/families and staff; advocate for patient/family concerns.
• Promotes safety during transitions along the healthcare continuum; actively addresses patient changes and concerns; engages patients with personalized care.
• COLLABORATION/SYSTEMS THINKING – Work with patients, families, and healthcare providers to achieve patient/family goals; utilize team resources and evidence-based practice.
• RESPONSE TO DIVERSITY – Recognize and incorporate cultural and individual differences into care.
• FACILITATION OF LEARNING – Facilitate education for patients/families and nursing staff; develop and modify education plans; supports patient-driven goals.
• CLINICAL INQUIRY – Pursue improvement through evidence-based practice and continuing education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Other Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current registration or eligibility for licensure with the State of Illinois to practice as a professional nurse.
• Required to complete Oncology Nurse training within 1 year of joining the team.

Qualifications

• Current Hepatitis B vaccination
• Complete unit-specific competency plan and skills list; demonstrate competency in required skills.
• Knowledge of equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe patient care and protect people, data, property, and institutions.
• Effective verbal and written communication; active listening; attention to detail; ability to apply general rules to problems; ability to reason and make decisions.
• Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work under pressure and irregular schedules.

Environmental Factors

• Position is performed in an environment with frequent exposure to blood and body fluids.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, assist in lifting patients; reach and adjust IVs; support weight during emergencies; attend to visual details; communicate effectively; read and interpret information; lift/push/pull 5 to 50 pounds as needed.
