Job Summary and Qualifications

The Emergency Department Manager is responsible for the supervision, coordination and evaluation of nursing care provided in the Emergency Department. The Manager also coordinates and supervises the activities for the unit, which supports the safe and efficient delivery of care. The Manager assists the Admin Department Director in the implementation of Performance Improvement activities, hospital policies/procedures and in the financial management of the unit.

What

qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • TNCC required within 18 months of hire
  • Texas state (RN) Registered Nurse or compact licensure
  • Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree preferred
  • Advanced specialty certification (i.e. CEN) encouraged
  • 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience and 2 years of management experience required
  • Strong accountability to the unit, patients and yourself.
  • Ability to be respectful of your team, patients, families and our organization
  • Strong time management abilities
  • Strong communication- willing to have the difficult conversations
  • Ability to cultivate a strong team and get buy in from staff on the HCA way and ability to explain the why behind decisions
  • Must have a strong presence within the unit, requiring some mid-shift coverage occasionally
  • HCA experience strongly preferred
