All About General Merchandise:
Experts of store processes and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise setup and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

The role of a General Merchandise Expert can provide you with knowledge of guest service fundamentals, experience supporting a guest-first culture, and experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement.

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Assist guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
• Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes including changing prices to products, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work in a safe manner and report hazards.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with laws.
• All other duties based on business needs.

• You are open to a flexible schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times).

• Ability to communicate using multiple devices and operate scanners and other technology as directed.
• Work both independently and with a team; resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes.
• Remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders as required; frequently lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance.
• Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays; reliable and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions; drive-up, carryout, etc.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
