Who are we?New Directions Counseling is an outpatient multidisciplinary group practice in Waterloo and Decorah, Iowa, that provides services to children (4+) and adults. We offer a wide array of services to include: psychotherapy, psychological testing, BHIS, and substance abuse/addiction services. - Diagnose and treat mental health disorders with the utmost compassion, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
- Establish a positive and trusting rapport with clients.
- Create and update individualized treatment plans according to client needs and circumstances.
- Make recommendations/referrals to specialists as necessary.
- Maintain thorough notes of client interactions and adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
- Accept a variety of insurances.
- Attend team meetings and clinical consultative meetings.
- Work with a variety of clients including individuals, couples, families, and groups within your skill-set and scope of practice.
- Collaborate in the most effective possible ways with your clients using empirically supported treatment models and outcome measures to enhance outcomes and the therapeutic relationship.
- Make referrals to appropriate lines of service based on the client’s needs, both in-house and out. (Psychological testing, Medication Management, TMS, Spravato, MAT)
- Must be a fully licensed clinical mental health therapist or have a temporary license in one of the following disciplines: LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LMSW, LMHC-t, or LMFT-t.
- Must maintain knowledge of the latest treatment modalities and Evidenced-Based Models.
- Must take initiative, demonstrate sound judgment, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organization & time management skills.
