Seasonal Snowplow Driver

Work Hours: Varies – Hours depending on weather event

• Operate snowplow and other snow removal equipment
• Inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment before, during, and after use
• Apply de-icing and anti-icing material such as salt and sand
• Follow all safety protocols, traffic laws, and department guidelines
• Work well with co-workers, supervisors, and public
• Must be able to communicate well with others and represent the City of Decorah in a professional manner
• Ability to do manual work
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license, Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred
• Previous experience in operating snowplows, dump trucks, or similar machinery preferred
• Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations
• Extended periods of sitting, driving, and operating machinery
• Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions, including snow, ice, and low temperatures
• At times, working in extreme weather conditions
• Shift may begin as early as 2:00 am
