Job DescriptionAs an Orthopedic Physician Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves working closely with our orthopedic surgeons in clinical consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and assisting in surgical procedures while ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The PA will also be responsible for patient education, treatment planning, and maintaining patient documentation. This is a 40-hour position, flexible shifts required.

Position Requirements- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) PANCE eligible and eligible for PA licensure in the State of Massachusetts.
- Documentation of Massachusetts PA license and initial NCCPA certification are required upon hire.
- Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.
- Master’s degree in physician assistant studies or a related field.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Two years of experience as an orthopedic physician assistant preferred.
- Experience working in the Operating Room with Orthopedic Surgeons.
- Provides direct care, counseling and teaching in an ambulatory surgery setting.
- Prevised pre-operative services, including pre-op History and Physicals and review of laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Presents and discusses the findings of the initial evaluation with the Anesthesia Director and Surgeon.
- May assist in surgery.
- Anticipates the need of the surgeon in order to expedite the surgical procedure.
- Provides advanced surgical scrub services in primary service.
- Ensures treatment and consultations consistent with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance), AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), and federal and state regulatory standards.
- Assist with research projects and their implementation as needed.
- Ensures professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops and maintaining knowledge of industry standards and practices.
- Maintains patients confidentiality.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Conforms to surgery center standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.
- Follows established infection control and safety procedures.
- Performs other duties pertaining to patient care and practice operations as required.
- Considerable knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology and procedural techniques.
