Specialty Team Member (Beer, Wine, Cheese & Chocolate) – Part Time
Join as a part‑time team member supporting the Specialty department at Whole Foods Market.
Base Pay Range$17.00/hr – $25.40/hr
Job Responsibilities- Surprise and delight customers with consistent and delicious food.
- Engage in positive and proactive selling.
- Maintain fresh and appealing displays by keeping cases and shelves clean and well‑stocked.
- Check product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards.
- Monitor spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on departmental expenses.
- Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing.
- Maintain back stock in good order.
- Access information about market conditions and communicate to customers.
- Ensure temperature, sanitation, and sweep logs are completed.
- Arrive to workstation on time, adequately groomed, dressed, and ready; work all scheduled shifts and attend required training and meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers promptly and courteously, and model suggestive selling techniques.
- Maximize sales potential through proper procedures for prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising.
- Follow or ensure compliance with established procedures, including Weights & Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment per Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards.
- Perform opening, mid‑shift, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
- Report safety hazards and violations immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
- Basic knowledge of products carried in the department.
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
- Ability to sell proactively.
- Working understanding of the Specialty department, team, and Whole Foods Market quality goals.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to deliver information in a clear, respectful manner to team members, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
- Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.

- No prior retail experience required.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Stand/walk 6–8 hours during an 8‑hour shift.
- Use handgrasp for fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
- Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from 90°F.
- Work in a wet and cold environment.
- Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- Where applicable, complete TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures by Servers of Alcohol) course and be 18 years or older for alcohol service.
