Position: Prevention & Diversion Worker at YES Shelter
Join YES Shelter as a Prevention and Diversion Worker in Peterborough, dedicated to preventing youth homelessness. Engage directly with at-risk individuals while fostering community awareness through education and outreach.

This role is vital for the YES Shelter for Youth and Families, which seeks a compassionate professional to guide youth facing housing challenges. The Prevention and Diversion Worker will partner with schools and community agencies to facilitate stronger pathways to stable housing. Combining client support with educational initiatives, you will make significant contributions toward reducing homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct presentations on homelessness prevention to community groups

• Collaborate with KPRDSB for youth-specific programs

• Support clients in identifying housing needs and goals

• Maintain accurate records and documentation of services

• Highlight and address emerging service gaps in the community

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent with 2 years of experience

• Strong understanding of at-risk youth needs and community resources

• Community development experience preferred

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required

• Current certification in First Aid/CPR or similar
