Marketing Specialist

The City of Deer Park is looking for a hard-working, goal-oriented, and creative individual to join our Parks and Recreation team as Part Time Marketing Specialist. This position will assist the Marketing/Technical Coordinator to develop marketing and public relations programs, community outreach, and management of public information. This person will assist the Administrative Supervisor in the department's administrative duties. This position will work hours other than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on occasion.

This position is a year-round part-time position that will work an average of 30 hours/week.

• Creating flyers, posters, web content, Facebook content, departmental videos, presentations, and written articles for the Parks and Recreation Department.
• On occasion being "Roscoe the Rec Dog," who is the Departments mascot.
• Work with every division within the Parks and Recreation Department to help create successful programs.
• Assist the Administrative Coordinator in our day-to-day operations. Duties will include, but are not limited to filing, records management, answering phones, mail runs, program registrations and city facility rentals.
• Assist with events.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Applicants should have interest in marketing, technology, and office administration with abilities in MS Office. They should possess strong communication and planning skills, have the ability to work independently, and be capable of working non-traditional hours. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In-Design, Adobe Illustrator) would be preferred but not mandatory. Basic photography skills are required. Applicants should be certified in First Aid and CPR or able to obtain within 60 days.
