Job Description

Responsibilities include installing, configuring and supporting servers, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, backup systems, storage area networks, virtual servers, desktop and mobile devices, printers, and other hardware. Managing Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policy. Monitoring and testing network performance and troubleshooting performance issues. Researching and recommending changes to system architecture to accommodate technology upgrades, improve performance, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.

Assessing and defining short‑term and long‑term network capacity. Maintaining, testing and updating data backup systems, archiving, and disaster recovery. Assisting in the development and implementation of network and system administration policies. Maintaining an accurate IT asset inventory. Monitoring, testing, and documenting network hardware configurations, security settings, processes, policy compliance, backup procedures, and other network administrative activities as required by Sarbanes‑Oxley.

Interacting and negotiating with vendors and contractors to procure network products. Providing support for land line phones. Providing end‑user support as part of a 24x7 help desk, including training and assisting staff in using hardware and software more efficiently. Installing security patches on all servers. Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager and/or Senior Director of Technology and Continuous Improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related technical field, or at least 5 years of experience as a Network and System Administrator or related role in designing, implementing, supporting, and managing complex LAN and server solutions.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff to define business and technical requirements as well as to perform system tasks.
• Working knowledge of software patch management and update.
• Certifications:
  
  CCNA, Network+, Security+, Server+, VMware Certified Professional, Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance (plus).
