Position Summary
A rig welder is responsible for their on welding rig and equipment and welding fabricated components to assemble structural forms, construct pipes, bond metals to create beams, vessels, and pipes.
This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.
- Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding applying proper welding techniques.
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
- Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
- Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc welding equipment.
- May assemble parts by bolting.
- May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press and other hand tools.
- Responsible for adhering to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
- Responsible for adhering to Quality Assurance Program regulations.
- Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and storage of for their own welding
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a welder, preferably on a construction site. Must either be certified or capable of passing a welding certification test. Must be able to read and comprehend welding instructions. Must be able to read a tape measure. Must have all required welding tools necessary to perform the above listed duties.
Physical DemandsMust be able to lift in excess of 100 pounds frequently on the job and climb in excess of 300 feet. Must be able to pull own weight when climbing steel bracing or ladders. Frequent amounts of bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Exposed to temperature fluctuations, loud noises, dusty environment, and voltage electromagnetic fields. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
