Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician
Job Summary: The Apprentice 1 will perform on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

3) Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions:
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values-Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Gains knowledge of and assists with the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.
- Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components.
- Examine and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning.
- Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts.
- Attends Technical and Soft Skill classes and successfully incorporates skills learned.
- Maintains safety training and procedures.
- Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership.
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications.
- Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
- Ability to follow directions and guidelines.
- Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership.
- Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Up to one year of relevant experience preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Travel:
- Some travel and overnight stays may be expected for this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity are necessary to operate equipment.
- Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climb up and down ladders.
- Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment.
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
- Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
- Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks.
- Noise level may be loud at times, and may be exposed to whole-body vibration.
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
- May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places.
