City Clerk
Performs clerical work involving the receipt, review, and processing of program registrations, facility rentals, and special event applications utilizing the Department's registration software. Work also involves general office, clerical, customer service, and computer work as assigned. Employees assigned to this classification have considerable public contact and must exercise discretion, tact, and diplomacy in assisting customers and explaining and answering questions in person and over the telephone.
Work is performed under general supervision of the assigned supervisor, and performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through observation, discussions, and review of report.
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Processing registrations for Parks and Recreation programs.
- Handling facility and athletic field rental reservations.
- Receiving and processing special event applications.
- Greeting internal and external customers and responding to questions and inquiries in person, via email, and by phone.
- Answering incoming phone calls and providing customers with directions, information, and assistance.
- Providing information regarding programs, facilities, fees, availability, and department procedures.
- Performing cashiering and payment processing procedures for Parks and Recreation customers.
- Processing payments, reconciling accounts, reviewing deposits, checks, and receipts, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Maintaining accurate program registration, facility rental, and special event application records.
- Providing general front-counter and customer service support for the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
MINIMUM
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- Certifications in customer service, call center, help desk, or related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and personal computer operation.
- Knowledge of business English and spelling
- Skill in customer service and in the use of standard office equipment.
- Ability to use small office equipment and computers.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, vendors, and the general public.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. None.
WORK HOURSMonday – Friday 8am- 5pm (May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet the business needs of the City.)
