Job DescriptionCAP Government, Inc. is seeking the immediate hire of licensed Building Plans Examiner and Inspector needed for inspection and plan review services of construction projects. The work involves the interpretation and application of these regulations as applied to customer relations, the review of building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area.
Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player.
- Conduct examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings and all other required documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other regulations relating to building construction.
- Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction.
- Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations.
- Meet with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues which arise during the plan review process.
- Prepare and maintain all required records and reports.
- Inspect buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and all other related regulations as required by the supervisor.
- Receive and respond to inquiries from homeowners/property owners, contractors, architects, engineers, etc., regarding codes and review procedures.
- Perform general administrative/office work as required, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.
- Receive, review, prepare and/or submit various records and reports including building plans, shop drawings, engineering reports, permit applications, job pricing records and reports, code compliance complaints, correspondence, etc.
- Interact and communicate with the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other department personnel, property/home owners, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, County personnel, general public, etc.
- Review permits for residential and commercial to ensure that they conform to the applicable codes.
- Enforce and explain pertinent sections of the applicable codes.
- Issue verbal and written notices of code violation and citations for code violations.
- Assist in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues, either personally, by telephone or in writing.
- Maintain records and documents of customer service issues and resolutions.
- Research problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential work and code compliance.
- Maintain high ethical, honesty and moral standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
