This position is responsible for inspection and plan review services of construction projects in Deerfield Beach, FL, interpreting and applying regulations to plan review and field inspections. Responsibilities- Examine building permit applications, blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals, and shop drawings for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations.
- Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction.
- Identify and resolve unique problems or situations during plan review and inspections.
- Meet with design professionals, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss technical code issues arising during plan review.
- Prepare and maintain all required records and reports.
- Inspect buildings and facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and related regulations as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
- State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building; or
- State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building; or
- ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in building; and
- Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations.
- Ability to interpret codes and evaluate project proposals for code conformance.
- Certified or certifiable as Building Plans Examiner by Miami-Dade and/or Broward County BORA is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, inspection methods, and construction materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with work-related technology and software (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Ability to follow directions, ask clarifying questions, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Professional appearance and conduct; capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
