The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Pharmacist at our UHealth Deerfield location. The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Also, in this position the employee transfers prescriptions, handles incoming physician calls, logs data into applicable databases, and performs drug utilization review.

• Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
• Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
• Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages.
• Assess the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
• Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage.
• Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions.
• Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics and controlled drugs.
• Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment and healthcare supplies.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

• Pharm.
  
  D. degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid State of Florida Pharmacist license.
• Minimum 1 Year of Relevant Experience.
• Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.
• Ability to recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
