Description
Veterinary Eye Institute (VEI) is the leading veterinarian‑owned and led network of stand‑alone ophthalmology practices. We help our patients receive advanced medical treatments and innovations. We treat cataracts, glaucoma, uveitis, ulcers, sudden blindness, and more. We are looking for collaborative and driven people to join our clinical team.
ScheduleMon‑Fri 7:45 am – 5:00 pm.
What you’ll do- Prioritize caseload and patient care; prepare and check charts for appropriate paperwork
- Obtain vitals and perform ocular testing
- Assist with surgical procedures
- Prepare, call in or create written prescriptions
- Calculate and administer injections and fluids in various drug administration routes
- Monitor anesthesia (placing equipment, evaluating values, manually monitoring when necessary)
- Provide pre‑ and post‑surgical patient care and recovery support
- Maintain the surgical OR, equipment, and instruments, including cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing, and organizing
- Perform client callbacks
- Participate in rotational weekly on‑call shifts and support of the Dallas location
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior veterinary experience required; ophthalmology experience desired
- Proficient in drug and infusion calculations (unit conversions, constant rate infusions, etc.)
- Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Efficient in a fast‑paced environment
- Critical thinking skills and ability to anticipate needs intra‑ and inter‑departmentally
- Ability to stay on task and work energetically for entire shifts, sometimes up to 10 hours per day
- Eager to learn about ophthalmology‑specific diseases and medications
