• Perform microbiological tests
• Test fat composition
• Conduct raw, intermediate and finished milk and product analysis
• Perform environment tests
• Flavor the product
• Inspect plant and uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Provide accurate and timely information to department managers
• Keep records and documentation of test results
• Create and communicate laboratory reports for regulatory agencies and Publix associates
• Assist teams in applying information for process improvement and resolution of quality issues in the facility
• Other duties as assigned

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must obtain lab certification by state and/or FDA
• Must be able to taste and evaluate all products
• Must have analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must demonstrate safe working habits
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Must be able to learn and perform all positions
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must have good human relations skills
• Must be able to work any shift, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours

• Two-year degree in Dairy Science, Microbiology or related field, or equivalent laboratory experience
• Lab experience

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.

In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
