Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description

We are looking for a HYBRID Accounts Receivable Specialist to support financial operations for a manufacturing organization in Deerfield, Illinois. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate who can manage receivables, apply customer payments accurately, and help maintain healthy account balances. The role will contribute to timely billing, payment reconciliation, and proactive follow-up on outstanding commercial accounts.

Responsibilities:

- Process customer invoices and maintain accurate accounts receivable records to support timely revenue recognition.

- Post incoming payments, reconcile cash activity, and ensure cash applications are matched correctly to open balances.

- Monitor overdue accounts and communicate with commercial customers to secure payment and resolve outstanding items.

- Investigate deductions, short payments, and account discrepancies, then document findings and coordinate appropriate resolution.

- Perform billing-related tasks with accuracy, including reviewing charges and correcting invoice issues when needed.

- Reconcile customer account balances on a regular basis and identify variances that require follow-up.

- Partner with internal teams to address payment questions, support dispute resolution, and improve collection outcomes.

- Assist with receivables-related process updates or system changes as assigned while maintaining continuity in daily operations.

Requirements

- Experience working in accounts receivable within a detail-focused business environment.

- Hands-on knowledge of cash application processing and daily cash activity reconciliation.

- Background in commercial collections with the ability to manage customer communications effectively.

- Familiarity with billing functions, invoice review, and account adjustment procedures.

- Ability to research deductions and resolve payment discrepancies with strong attention to detail.

- Proficiency in maintaining accurate financial records and working with accounting systems or ERP platforms.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.

The hourly salary range for this position is 25.00 to 30.00. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
