Job TitleIT Desktop Support Engineer
Job Type & LocationOnsite | 1 Opening in Illinois (Deerfield) | Long‑term contract (9 months with possibility for extension)
Job Requirements Technical- Minimum 2 to 4 years of strong experience providing IT infrastructure field support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and operating system issues, and fixing problems without impacting hardware warranty or violating customer security compliance requirements.
- Experience installing, troubleshooting, and fixing desktops, printers, laptops, and other computer peripherals, and desktop applications.
- Basic knowledge of enterprise LAN and WAN setups and concepts; able to perform smart‑hand activity under instruction‑based activities at sites.
- Ability to lift/move computer equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Expert in desk‑side support and PC break/fix, including basic administration of Windows OS and MAC/Linux OS (preferred).
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and RDP.
- Smart‑hand support for peripheral and networking hardware, including monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, fax machines, scanners, routers, wireless routers, switches, firewalls, racks, cabinets, and multi‑port data termination panels under “Smart Hands” capability.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with systems and networks using deductive reasoning and resolve end‑user network cabling issues.
- Experience in repeat call analysis and developing preventive actions.
- Experience in problem management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with clients and management, with strong people skills.
- Ability to work with deadlines, complete tasks on time, take proactive ownership, and work with a sense of urgency.
- Preferably with an Associate Degree in Electronics and CompTIA A+ Certification.
- May have other vendor certifications from OEMs (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, Client).
- Experience with ticketing tools (Service Now, Remedy, etc.).
- Good customer management skill.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Able to interact and work with customers at different levels.
- Driven and result‑oriented.
- Passionate about the work.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to complete tasks effectively with minimal supervision.
- Must be available to work flexible work schedules.
