Lead Software Engineer, Back End (TAL, CED Management Systems) - Global Payment Network

The Lead Software Engineer / Principal Connex Environment Database Engineer plays a pivotal role designing and maintaining the Connex Environment Database on HPE Non Stop Connex Switch platforms. This position requires mastery of CED management systems and a deep understanding of Debit Card Transaction processing within the Connex Switch application suite. The engineer will champion best practices in data integrity, security, and performance optimization, ensuring business continuity across all Connex production and test environments.

The team supports over 400 changes each month, including vetting change requests, updating CED, peer review, functional testing, regression, and deployment.

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full‑stack systems to deliver solutions that meet regulatory requirements.
• Stay current on emerging technologies, experiment with new tools, mentor peers, and occasionally code or evaluate code as needed.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that empower millions of Americans.
• Leverage programming languages and technologies such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, Scala, open‑source RDBMS and No
  
  SQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply)
• At least 1 year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud)

• Master’s Degree
• 7+ years of experience in at least one of Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
• Experience with TAL, pTAL, and TACL
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service (2+ years)
• 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks
• People management experience (1+ year)
• Agile practice experience (2+ years)
