About Pipe Wize

Pipe Wize Ltd is a rapidly growing mechanical and industrial services contractor delivering complex projects across the UK. Having evolved from a small contractor into a structured, multi-project business, we continue to invest in systems, processes, and people to support sustainable growth. We are now seeking a capable and commercially aware Procurement Officer to strengthen our supply chain and cost control functions.

The Role

This is a key role within the business, responsible for managing both mechanical direct and indirect procurement across the projects and operational functions. You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams, and Directors to ensure materials, plant, subcontract services, and indirect supplies are procured efficiently, competitively, and in line with project requirements and company procedures.

The role requires strong coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities Direct Procurement (Projects & Site‑Based Materials)
  • Material & Equipment Procurement: Source, price, and procure mechanical materials, pipework, valves, fittings, plant, tools, and specialist equipment in line with project specifications, programmes, and budgets.
  • Supplier Liaison & Negotiation: Engage with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing, lead times, and terms; negotiate cost savings, delivery schedules, and commercial agreements.
  • Order Placement & Tracking: Raise purchase orders, confirm acknowledgements, and track deliveries to site, ensuring materials arrive on time, in full, and in compliance with specifications.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to forecast material requirements, manage call‑offs, and respond to programme changes or site urgencies.
Indirect Procurement (Operational & Business Support)
  • Indirect Spend Management: Procure indirect goods and services including PPE, consumables, plant hire, tools, office supplies, IT equipment, and support services.
  • Supplier Frameworks & Cost Control: Support the development and maintenance of preferred supplier lists and framework agreements to improve consistency, value, and service levels.
  • Spend Visibility & Reporting: Track indirect spend and support reporting to improve cost transparency and identify savings opportunities.
Commercial, Systems & Compliance
  • ERP & Procurement Systems: Raise and manage purchase orders within company ERP/accounting systems (e.g. Xero or equivalent), ensuring accurate coding, approvals, and audit trails.
  • Invoice Matching & Reconciliation: Support three‑way matching of purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices; resolve discrepancies in collaboration with accounts and suppliers.
  • Documentation & Records: Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier documentation, delivery notes, and compliance information in line with company procedures.
  • HSE & Quality Compliance: Ensure suppliers and procured goods meet required quality, technical, and HSE standards, supporting site and audit requirements.
Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a proactive, commercially minded procurement professional who thrives in a hands‑on environment and takes ownership of procurement processes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing project urgency with cost control, structure, and supplier management.

Experience & Skills
  • Experience in procurement or buying roles within mechanical, construction, engineering, or industrial services environments.
  • Experience managing both direct (project‑based) and indirect procurement advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical materials, plant, and subcontract services preferred.
  • Confident negotiating with suppliers and managing multiple orders across concurrent projects.
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and follow‑through.
  • Comfortable using ERP, accounting, or procurement systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site teams, engineers, suppliers, and management.
Why Join Pipe Wize
  • Opportunity to help shape procurement systems, supplier relationships, and cost control processes.
  • Close collaboration with Directors, Project Managers, and site teams.
  • Exposure to varied mechanical and industrial projects across the UK.
  • Long‑term career development within a growing and structured business.
  • Supportive, professional, and ambitious working environment.
