Job SummaryDelivers product certification programs requiring interpretation of standards, processes and procedures. Makes technical decisions based on a high degree of knowledge, training and professional experience to maintain the integrity of CSA’s global certification programs. May act as a backup for the management of activities such as technical support, staff training, participation in assigned Standard committees, and answering technical questions.
Working Relationships- Reports to Product Group Manager (PGM) or Team Leader or Assistant Operations Manager
- Performs mentoring duties to junior staff (Lab Techs, Certifier Levels I & II) including evaluating and reviewing letters, client communication, and acceptance of project work as a mentor
- Internal & External clients / customers
- May lead small teams on special projects as identified by management
- As requested by Manager, may provide input regarding the performance of Technicians or junior Certifiers
- Efficiently manage certification projects concurrently, ensuring completion within time frames and cost deadlines to meet revenue targets
- Evaluate products against national/international standards and precedent decisions; make technical decisions
- Handle a wide spectrum of projects, including complex ones with high revenue potential
- Maintain high productivity while managing multiple projects on time and on budget
- Pursue continual improvements; implement changes in laboratory operations that deliver productivity gains
- Identify and request approval for development of new or improved evaluation processes, standards interpretations, and templates; propose new test facilities, equipment, and procedures
- Review test data and reports; authorize application of CSA Mark; prepare and sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance
- Participate in CSA Technical Network/Technical Panel and support international standards development
- Represent CSA Group at public functions and provide formal internal and external technical presentations
- Support team in audit processes
- Conduct facility assessments for CPC and SMT/SMTC programs; conduct construction evaluation and determine compliance
- Collaborate with Lab Technicians to create work orders, determine required tests, order sequence, and sample numbers
- Evaluate products at customer facilities, witness customer tests, evaluate construction, review methods, and ensure test equipment compliance
- Provide technical briefings on requirements and answer inquiries related to standards and legal requirements
- Assess and qualify companies for CSA Category Certification Program and CSA Shared Program or other agency programs
- Review customer test methods, new/old product designs and applicable documentation; ensure equipment and procedures meet guidelines
- Provide training and technical briefings on new and existing requirements; authorize letters of application and/or removal of the CSA Mark
- Provide technical information service to external and internal customers; liaise with customers in design stages to ensure standard requirements are met
