Location: Shotton

Join our Manufacturing team in Deeside as an Engineering Technician, where you'll play a key role in keeping our factory machinery and infrastructure operating safely, reliably and efficiently. Working as part of a small engineering team, you'll provide both reactive and proactive maintenance support, responding to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and helping to minimise production downtime. You'll also carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), support the installation of new equipment and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.,

Responsibilities
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Undertake routine inspections and repairs using both mechanical and electrical engineering skills.
  • Support the installation of new equipment and ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Select and order alternative equipment and components to support rapid repair of production machinery and plant.
  • Assist with developing maintenance schedules to ensure the safe and effective operation of site equipment.
  • Work in accordance with Akzo Nobel EHS policies and standardised ALPS work practices.
  • Follow safe systems of work, including Lock Out Tag Out Try Out (LOTOTO) and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ensure compliance with point-of-work risk assessments and change control systems.
  • Participate in HSEQ&S risk reduction programmes and proactively respond to near-miss reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, equipment reliability and working practices.
  • Support small engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce plant downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardised work and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications
  • HNC or equivalent, or a time-served apprenticeship with relevant industrial experience.
  • Successful completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship Level 3.
  • Multi-skilled experience across mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Experience working in a maintenance and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in hazardous areas and with associated Ex / ATEX equipment.
  • Experience with permit-to-work systems, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Excellent IT and numeracy skills, including experience using CMMS systems.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and deliver results within deadlines.
  • Sound engineering principles and practices within the electrical discipline.
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake a broad range of tasks across the site.
Desirable
  • Comp Ex accreditation (Ex01-06).

Salary - £49,561 plus shift allowance £7,333.68
