About the Role
As a Packaging Technologist, you will play a key role in supporting packaging development projects from concept through to launch. Working closely with NPD, Operations, Procurement, and Quality teams, you will ensure all packaging meets technical, commercial, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
You will be responsible for delivering packaging solutions that enhance product performance, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, test, and validate new packaging formats, materials, and specifications
* Support packaging projects from concept to commercialisation, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
* Conduct packaging trials, line tests, and performance evaluations across manufacturing sites
* Work with suppliers to source materials, review specifications, and ensure compliance with technical and sustainability standards
* Analyse packaging performance, identify improvements, and support cost‑saving initiatives
* Ensure all packaging meets legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements
* Maintain accurate documentation, technical drawings, and specifications
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support NPD launches and packaging changes
* Monitor industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies
About You
We are looking for someone who brings a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and strong problem‑solving skills. The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in a Packaging Technologist or Packaging Development role (FMCG, food, drink, consumer goods, or manufacturing)
* Strong understanding of packaging materials (plastics, paper, board, films, laminates, etc.)
* Experience conducting packaging trials and working with manufacturing lines
* Knowledge of sustainability principles and packaging legislation
* Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* A relevant qualification in Packaging, Materials Science, Engineering, or similar (desirable)
