Building Systems UK (A Tata Steel Enterprise) are looking for a Lab Technician to play an active role in the testing, analysis and measuring of PIR composite panels in a modern manufacturing environment. Our products are used throughout the construction industry to provide excellent insulation properties and superior fire resistance. This role supports the manufacturing teams to deliver a quality product every time.
What you will do:- To measure and test PIR composite panels according to our Factory Production Control procedures.
- To perform chemical offloading and blending of our raw materials, including lab analysis of the final blended product.
- To accurately record data in the business quality management systems.
- Performing preventative maintenance tasks on lab equipment and escalating faults to the relevant teams for corrective action.
- Assist the material control department to forecast chemical usage for composite panel manufacturing lines and facilitate the availability of raw materials to prevent downtime.
- To monitor and track chemical consumable stocks in the laboratory and the blending facility.
- To contribute and promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.
To be successful in this role, the Lab Technician would typically have experience of working in a manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment working to high standards of quality control and assurance. An understanding of GLP (Good laboratory practice), chemical awareness and chemical offloading equipment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.
What you will need:- To demonstrate qualities of organisation, attention to detail and flexibility.
- The ability to work safely and to tight timescales in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Strong numeracy and IT skills (particularly in Microsoft Excel).
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
