Job Description

Job Role: Security Officer (Gatehouse)

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern, with rotation between days (05:30–17:30) & nights (17:30–05:30) - average 42 hours per week

Pay: £13.42 per hour

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced Gatehouse Security Officer to join our established security team based at Shotton Paper Mill in Deeside Industrial Park.

We are looking for professional and vigilant individuals who will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the gatehouse, controlling access to site, maintaining site security procedures, and acting as the first point of contact for all visitors, contractors, and staff.

You will be required to deliver a high standard of customer service, manage access control systems, ensure a secure and safe site, and remain alert at all times.
The successful candidate must hold a valid SIA Licence and a full UK Driving Licence.

Duties Include:

  • Protecting the client’s property, people and/or assets by providing security services indirect according to the site’s published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and site-specific procedures
  • Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing offenders of policy and procedures
  • Controlling access to and from site via the gatehouse, including checking vehicles, visitors, and staff in line with site procedures
  • Verifying identification and issuing passes to authorised personnel, visitors, and contractors
  • Acting as the main point of contact for all site visitors, providing a professional and welcoming service
  • Maintaining accurate records of site access, vehicle logs, and visitor documentation
  • Operating gatehouse systems including barriers, CCTV, radios, and access control systems
  • Preventing and escalating incidents in a timely and appropriate manner to the Control Room, Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or Emergency Services as appropriate
  • Completing detailed reports by recording observations, incidents, and daily activity logs
  • Supporting wider security operations when required, including periodic patrols if necessary
  • Maintaining the organisation’s reputation by complying with all legal, health & safety, and site-specific requirements
  • Responding to queries and requests from staff, contractors, and visitors efficiently and professionally
  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, vigilance, and customer focus at all times
Requirements
  • Full 5-year employment checkable history - Essential
  • Valid frontline SIA licence DS or SG - Essential
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence - Essential
  • Customer Service experience and confidence to handle conflict in a correct manner
  • Flexible to meet the job requirements
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Smart appearance and be well-groomed
