Cost Engineer

Summary of Position

A key team member of the Project Controls Team, this role assists with the execution of Capital Projects at the FQT Defiance, Ohio site. This is a contract position.

• Core belief in site Safety.
• Contract resource - fixed hourly rate for hours worked.
• Start date ~beginning of 2026 thru end of 2028. Standard 40 hr. work week, with overtime as approved.
• Manage Field Change Requests:
  Develop, track, analyze, forecast, and process on-site changes. Run weekly Contractor meetings for FCN review and approval.
• Invoice Review:
  Validate invoices against approved contracts and FCRs.
• Cost Reports:
  Assist with preparation, contractor forecasting, and monthly variance justification.
• Earned Value Measurement:
  Create, maintain, and report progress measurement for Contracts.
• Cash Flow Management:
  Update and track cash flow for Capital and Expense, explaining variances.
• Schedule:
  
  Review and comment on Master and Contractor work schedules.
• Contract Close Out:
  Ensure documentation is complete, apply back charges, and lead Contractor evaluation reviews.
• Assist with other duties as needed.

• Knowledge of paper production equipment and processes is advantageous.
• Understanding of Project Control processes.
• Advanced verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Superior interpersonal skills.
• Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with Oracle Aconex is a plus.
