Patient Advocate / Client Access Specialist
Part-time, 30 hours/week.
Job DescriptionThe Patient Advocate reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. As the Patient Advocate, you will ensure that the administrative portion of the patient visit is pleasant, accurate, and efficient. Your responsibilities include verifying patient identity, processing insurance, coordinating the registration process for all patient encounters (physician, occupational health, out‑patient lab, x‑ray, mammography, pre‑admission testing), meeting patient, family, and departmental staff communication needs, prioritizing tasks and handling emergency situations calmly, and managing the collection of co‑payments, prior balances, and other payments due at the time of visit.
Qualifications- Required: High school graduate.
- Preferred: One year of experience in a clerical position; some college.
