Inventory Specialist

Salary Range: $17 - $20 / Hourly
Responsibilities- Executing, monitoring, and training inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy.
- Supporting pharmacy inventory management activities, including receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
- Championing On‑Shelf Availability and overseeing receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and all in‑store inventory processes.
- Validating and ensuring accuracy of planograms.
- Reviewing and coordinating the proper use of reports and system applications to maintain accuracy of front end and pharmacy on‑hand balances and pricing.
- Executing and maintaining front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques, filing claims for warehouse and vendor overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs.
- Opening and closing the store in the absence of store management, including required system start‑ups, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities.
- Engaging customers by greeting them and offering assistance, resolving issues, and delivering a positive customer experience.
- Modeling and sharing customer service best practices with all team members.
- Coaching team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes.
- Scanning in all deliveries, focusing on One Box receiving and initiating corrections for undelivered orders.
- Verifying pharmacy shipments and posting orders under pharmacist supervision.
- Completing On‑Shelf Availability end‑to‑end process, including warehouse and DSD for planogrammed departments.
- Managing pharmacy inventory activities such as recalls, vendor returns, inter‑store transfers, and posting of prescription claims.
- Executing pricing activities, including price changes, markdowns, deletes, and regulatory pricing tasks.
- Ordering expense items and monitoring manual orders to identify excess orders.
- Maintaining conigned inventory and pull & quarantine item on‑hands.
- Maintaining accurate inventory counts and ensuring on‑hand quantities are accurate.
- Ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
- Assisting in the maintenance of inventory records and organization of invoices, receipts, and return authorizations.
- Preparing for physical inventory and supporting related day activities.
- Keeping counters and shelves clean and well merchandised.
- Coaching store team on package delivery activities and Pickup Program execution.
- When serving as leader on duty, handling all related sales, including scans, price verifications, voids, returns, refunds, cash drops, and change.
- Complying with all company policies and maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Completing any additional activities and tasks as assigned.
- Attending company‑based trainings and completing all e‑learning modules, including safety training.
- Obtaining and maintaining a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state.
- Serving as liaison between management and team members, coaching, developing capabilities, and reporting disciplinary issues or customer complaints to management.
- Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal) or one year of prior retail work experience (external).
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- “Achieving expectations” rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months (internal only).
- Attention to detail and ability to multi‑task and manage execution.
- Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
