Job OverviewThe Community‑Based Doula provides inclusive, in‑home visits within a strength‑based, family‑centered support model to young mothers and fathers who would like support services. The Doula will provide outreach services, prenatal education activities, and assist the family in preparing for childbirth through both home visiting and group‑based services. As the Doula, you will advocate for the participant families by providing emotional support, parental education, labor and delivery guidance and post‑partum care.
CandidateQualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in social work or human service, OR an Associate’s Degree plus completion of Doula certification training, OR an Associate’s Degree plus two years’ relevant social service experience.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Able to attend in‑person family visits and meetings required.
- Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in English and Spanish required.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
- Establish trusting and nurturing relationships with program participants and their families.
- Maintain regular contact with participants in their home to provide information, education and resources that will prepare the parent and her family for the birth process and postpartum.
- Attend and support the laboring mother and their family or support person(s).
- Assist families in initiating and strengthening the parent‑child relationship.
- Improve family support systems by providing information about community networking and advocacy.
- Assist identified families in establishing goals and creating a plan for the accomplishment of those goals, including the collaborative development of a birth plan.
- Assess family functioning for safety and ability of family to care for children; determine appropriate interventions.
- Develop and facilitate pre‑ and postnatal education and parent support groups.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the agency team, referring agencies, and other community resources.
- Assist with community outreach efforts, targeting local hospitals and medical staff.
- Participate in the on‑call system, as required by program, including being present for after‑hours and weekend births.
- Bills Medicaid according to the program guidelines.
- Complete accurate documentation and maintenance of files, including timely submission of Medicaid notes as required by the funder.
- Compensation: $20.19–$22.00 per hour; offers are commensurate with experience. Bilingual candidates may receive additional financial compensation.

Home‑based and community‑based services in the DeKalb, Boone, and Grundy Counties; home office located at our DeKalb office. - Schedule:
Full‑time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility required for evening visits and after‑hours births. - Additional perks:
