CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR BB&E is an employee-owned full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.
Position Summary BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Inspector to join our T-7A Beddown Contracted Support Services Team supporting the 47th Civil Engineering Squadron at Laughlin Air Force Base (AFB), Del Rio, TX
Requirements Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Be familiar with and adhere to all instructions outlined in the 32 series Civil Engineer AFIs, Unified Facilities Criteria, and applicable building codes
- Work with 47 CES/CENM Project Managers to ensure construction contractor compliance with approved plans and specifications for various construction contracts. Contracts may be for the construction or renovation of large, complex administrative office buildings, hospitals, aircraft maintenance and industrial facilities, or utility distribution systems. x
- Coordinate with construction contractor representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements
- Investigate and report on controversial situations which have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims by the construction contractor
- Coordinate with the Contracting Officer to correct construction contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements. x
- Monitor and evaluate construction contract progress schedules noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction, review construction contractor’s cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports in order to compute periodic payments and recommend approval/disapproval of contractor submittals and progress schedules
- Prepare various documents, reports, and correspondence and maintain daily logs and safety reports addressing the progress of construction and the administration of the contract
- Prepare construction daily reports and weekly activity reports
Key Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
- Certification / Licensing:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desired but not required
C urrent 2021 or 2024 National Commercial Electrical Inspector, Commercial Mechanical Inspector, or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC) under the E2, M2, or P2 category is desired but not required (see experience requirement below).

Experience & Education
- Experience:
A current 2021 or 2024 National Commercial Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC) under the B2 category, ora minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent on public, private, and/or Federal projects is required - Education:
A bachelor’s degree in either engineering or architecture from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university is desired but not required
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to: stand/walk/kneel/crouch and to remain in a stationary position at least 60% of the time; operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; lift up to 50 lbs.; speak clearly so listeners can understand; understand the speech of another person; talk or hear both in person and by telephone;
