Primary Purpose:

The Construction Project Manager will coordinate all technical and administrative activities between the department and design professionals, consultants, agents, vendors, contractors, school communities and district staff in the implementation of all DVISD construction and capital improvement bond programs with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communication, technology, security, fire, and life safety building systems. This position is bond funded; therefore, annual employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Minimum Qualification:

Education/Certification:

High School graduate or GED certificate required and ten (10) years of experience in building construction project management or related field; preferred; or

Sixty (60) semester hours of college credit with architecture, engineering, or construction emphasis and twelve (12) years of experience in construction project management; or

Degree in architecture, engineering, science, and construction and three (3) years' experiences in construction project management or related field; or

Five (5) years of experience repairing, maintaining, or installing Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, refrigeration systems

Experience using Building Management Software (BMS)

Valid license or certification in field of expertise.

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Experience:

Extensive knowledge and experience in K-12 institutional communication, technology, security, fire, and life safety building systems is preferred

Professional experience in a publicly funded school environment is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
    • Extensive knowledge and experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems maintenance. As well as institutional communication, technology, security, fire and life safety building systems.
    • Knowledge and experience in digital HVAC control systems and Energy Management processes.
  • Knowledge of architectural, engineering and construction principles, practices and procedures and applicable federal, state and local building and zoning codes
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
  • Ability to monitor the planning and management of several construction projects
  • Ability to work with other people and resolve problems
  • Detail orientation, organizational and coordinating abilities
  • Interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Skill in the use of personal computer and related construction software including scheduling and cost estimating
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. Meet and maintain Del Valle ISD liability coverage eligibility.
  • Must have own transportation
  • Available to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

Instructional Management

The manager promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:
  • Serve as project coordinator/liaison with contracted architectural, engineering and management professionals involved in planning, design, and construction of project.
  • Interface with District and school administration, staff, teachers, and communities within area of responsibility to ensure coordination of activities in consistent with District and schools' goals and objectives
