The Role
The Architect at Miller Marriott is responsible for leading the architectural design, documentation, and coordination of residential projects through all design phases—from concept to construction. This role balances design excellence, technical precision, and client engagement while ensuring every project aligns with Miller Marriott’s standards for quality, buildability, and client experience.
Core Responsibilities Design- Design and develop high-quality residential homes aligned with Miller Marriott’s architectural vision.
- Create and refine floor plans, elevations, and construction documents that balance design intent, functionality, and client needs.
- Produce renderings, visual presentations, and accurate specification documentation.
- Ensure all drawings meet MMC design and drafting standards.
- Proactively guide clients through our design process with clear communication, creativity, and professionalism.
- Manage expectations, scope, timelines, and costs throughout each project.
- Lead design detail meetings, secure approvals, and support Client Experience (CE) in milestone coordination.
- Ensure designs meet municipal codes, HOA requirements, and internal quality standards.
- Review plans, truss layouts, and engineering for accuracy and buildability.
- Support field teams with design clarifications and proactive problem-solving.
- Maintain pertinent MMC drafting standards, workflows, and training materials.
- Oversee project entitlements and ensure necessary approvals.
- Partner with Pre-Design, Interior Design, Construction, and Purchasing teams for alignment across all project phases.
- Maintain material and vendor standards and support company-wide process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure clients understand pricing implications with design changes/enhancements.
- Manage schedules with CE and Production teams to ensure timely deliverables and uphold MMQB quality standards.
- Strong residential design expertise and aesthetic alignment with Miller Marriott’s style.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketch Up with experience in Revit being a plus.
- Deep understanding of residential construction methods and detailing.
- Excellent communication, organization, and client presentation skills.
- Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Knowledge of permitting, zoning, and documentation standards.
- Detail-driven, proactive, and adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
- 5+ years of residential architecture experience, preferably within a design-build environment.
- Experience in custom or semi-custom home design.
- Familiarity with Wisconsin building codes, permitting processes, and residential construction standards (preferred).
$80,00 - $95,00/year plus benefits and performance bonus.
