Overview
Behavioral Health Consultant - Float role at Children’s Wisconsin. Provides behavioral health services to patients and families with acute or chronic mental and behavioral health needs within an integrated care setting. Works as a core member of a multidisciplinary team using a Team Based Care Model.
Typical activities include chronic health condition management, anticipatory guidance, early intervention for trauma and mental health concerns, routine behavioral health screening, mental health risk assessment, treatment, safety planning, and consultation with medical providers and team members.
Responsibilities- Provide behavioral health services within a multidisciplinary, integrated care team
- Conduct mental health risk assessments and deliver evidence-based therapy
- Develop and implement safety planning and intervene in trauma-related or mental health concerns
- Collaborate with medical providers, social workers, nurses, psychiatrists, and community partners
- Engage in routine behavioral health screening and proactive follow-up
- Participate in population health initiatives and support pediatric care teams
- Social Worker, Clinical license issued by the state of Wisconsin
- OR Marriage and Family Therapist license issued by the state of Wisconsin
- OR Professional Counselor license issued by the state of Wisconsin
- OR Psychologist license issued by the state of Wisconsin
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling or related field from an accredited program
- Plus 3000 hours post-master’s experience, or PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited program
- Requires 2 years post-licensure experience
- Or licensed providers with 2 years of supervised experience working with children and families while obtaining 3,000 hours may be considered in lieu of 2 years post-licensure
- Clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds
- Exhibits behaviors aligned with Children’s values and mission
- Understanding of pediatric development and impact of trauma on development
- Flexibility to handle ambiguity and varied patient presentations
- Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan
- Ability to assess data and interpret information needed to provide care
- Provides services in settings with exposure to blood, high-risk materials, and hazardous substances
- Travel and coverage between Children’s Wisconsin clinics and locations may be required
Job Requirements
- Certification and/or experience in one or more evidence-based/informed therapeutic practices
- Two years of experience in a pediatric mental health or medical setting, including integrated health or crisis response, strongly preferred
