Position OverviewThis position will support the Traffic Operations office by managing administrative functions for the department, including human resource actions, purchasing, and inventory management. This position contributes to FDOT’s mission by addressing the administrative needs of each unit within Traffic Operations to ensure that tasks are completed timely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Assists in managing the overall administrative functions of the District Traffic Operations Office.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and organizing work assignments and projects.
- Coordinates and reviews personnel actions including recruitment, selection, classification packages, and performance evaluations.
- Maintains file system, correspondence, meeting minutes, personnel actions, and related documents.
- Coordinates purchases, transfers, and surplus of equipment; processes purchasing card charges in Works; reviews and distributes mail.
- Processes correspondence and requests for staff and management; serves on administrative support and special events committees.
- Coordinates, schedules, and sets up conferences and meetings for the District Traffic Operations Office.
- Provides direction and assistance to staff on personnel rules, travel requests, reimbursements, and department policies.
- Cooperates with management and staff to process personnel paperwork in accordance with department requirements.

- Administrative principles and practices.
- Office procedures and practices.
- The principles and techniques of effective communication.
Skills in:
- Written and verbal communication.
- Reading, interpreting applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to:
- Collect data related to administrative functions (human resources, purchasing, report writing).
- Prepare correspondence and administrative reports.
- Understand and apply applicable rules and policies.
- Work independently.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Level II background check required.
- Must respond to emergencies.
- Two years of experience in an administrative or support role in a professional office setting.
- Associate’s degree acceptable in lieu of required work experience.
Annual Salary Range: $43,603.69 - $56,428.30
