The ROPS Specialist I (Lab) performs essential duties within Revenue Operations. The role involves managing claims, billing, financial reconciliations, and ensuring accurate patient insurance data for laboratory services. The specialist collaborates with teammates and stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, maintain system integrity, and support the overall financial health of the lab.

• Generate and submit electronic claims to payers using the A/R system and clearinghouse.
• Resolve claim rejections by researching, contacting payers, and coordinating corrections.
• Maintain payer billing and clinic demographic tables accurately and timely.
• Track medical record requests and perform periodic billing audits.
• Maintain insurance records, including eligibility and coordination of benefits for outpatient dialysis lab testing.
• Resolve multiple discrepancies in the A/R system to ensure timely claim submission.
• Apply payments and denials accurately to patient claims, interpreting non-cash denial lines.
• Balance posted amounts, troubleshoot out-of-balance conditions, and post adjustments for reconciliation.
• Research difficult remittance advices to avoid unapplied cash postings.
• Update cash batch tracking, prioritize workload, and resolve work queues.
• Resolve credit balances and prepare documentation for refund checks or adjustments.
• Document refund information on tracking spreadsheets and address returned checks.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• 0-2 years experience; preference for 6+ months of medical office or data entry experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong 10‑key skills and 50 WPM typing speed.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance remittance advice preferred.
• Able to work nights and weekends; overtime as needed with little to no notice.
• Fluency in written and verbal communication required.
